As of May 2009 I took over another pub - the Butley Oyster. Dating back to the 12th Century, it’s in an idyllic spot, located in the rolling countryside of the Suffolk Sandlings between Woodbridge and Orford. The Oyster is run as a traditional village pub with regular live music and events, a beer garden and serves pub food seven days a week – again focusing on locally sourced, seasonal produce.
The bar is open: Monday to Friday from 11am until 3pm and 6 until 11pm Saturday from 11am until 11pm Sunday from 11am until 7pm (ish)
Food is served: Monday to Friday from 12noon until 2pm and 6.30 until 9pm Saturday from 12noon until 3pm and 6.30pm until 9pm Sunday from 12noon until 6pm
The pub is undergoing a big refurbishment program, which has already seen significant changes to behind the scenes bits and is now focusing on the more fun bits of redecoration. New wooden floors have been installed, painting inside and out is well underway, sofas, new tables and chairs inside and out have arrived and the garden is being tamed! There are plans to convert derelict barns into function rooms, a smoke house and shop units in 2011 along with caravanning and camping in an adjoining field.
